[At first, the sound of footsteps seemed normal-- just the noise from their own steps, echoing back. But after a minute or two, it sounded like there were too many, and then there were the ghostly figures that solidified around them. Women in tiny, sparkly dresses that hugged every curve, businessmen in suits in groups of two or three, heading to and from clubs and bars. Neon everywhere, almost comforting in how similar it was to the bright neon and LED lighting in the cities he was used to, so long as he didn't look too hard at how all the signage was in unfamiliar characters.]
