Date: 2020-01-15 04:42 am (UTC)[It was getting pretty long, too. It seemed like he was keeping it long because Tim liked it so much, which was really pretty sweet of him. He could cut it however he wanted, of course, Tim would think he was handsome with it long or short or anywhere in between. Even if he cut it into some weird bowl cut thing.]
[They were getting back to the street, close enough that Tim could hear the sounds of pedestrians and traffic. It sounded familiar, and he had a pretty good idea of where they were going to emerge; not that far from the tailor's, which was convenient. Minotaur maze-sense was surprisingly useful. As they got up to street-level, Tim hooked an arm through Majima's, keeping pace with him.]
For you? Oh, no. You could wear a paper bag and still look great. Wear whatever you want, it's your wedding, too.
[That actually made him think of something that he hadn't asked before, but probably should've?]
Do they usually do tuxes in Japan? Or, uh, is it usually something else?

Date: 2020-01-15 05:32 am (UTC)[ He looked Tim up and down, appreciatively. ]
You'd look pretty dashing in one, come to think of it. Maybe when we get back, I can have ya try one on.
[ Hey. If Saejima could pull off a montsuki, so could his space boyfriend.
They turned the corner right to the tailor's shop, and right up front was a broad display, showing a number of formal suits. Rows of fabric: neckties, bowties, jackets. The proprietor was an elegant-looking woman with greying hair, who looked up with curiosity as they came in.
"Hello, looking for anything in particular?" ]

Date: 2020-01-16 03:10 am (UTC)[Duh, everyone looked good in black, that wasn't an accomplishment. Try looking good in canary yellow, that was a real tough gig to pull off.]
[Inside the tailor's shop, there were... clothes. Because that's what a tailor did, they made clothes. Specifically, there were plenty of suits in different cuts and fabrics and embellishments, a long list of options for a man who actually knew a goddamn thing about suits. Tim was not that kind of man. Hell, the only time he'd had to wear suits was when he'd have to put on one of Jack's, and it would without fail have way too much gold fabric in it. He'd had to look like a gilded asshole.]
[The tailor looked like a very serious lady who asked Tim a very serious question. An answer was clearly expected.]
Hi, uh. Clothes. [Goddammit, Tim. Jack was the gilded asshole, answer appropriately.] Uh, I mean, tuxes. A white one, and, um... did you actually want a black one? [That question was directed to Majima, the person whose body was presumably going to be in one of those suits.]
I'm not gonna make you stick to the whole monochrome thing if you don't want to.

Date: 2020-01-16 03:36 am (UTC)[ Majima said, almost idly. It absolutely was not idly, however. On one hand, it might be a little harder to pull of the smooth silhouette with that big, beefy bod. On the other, who cared if it made for great cleavage?
Right. The question. ]
A pair of wedding tuxes.
[ The crime man confirmed, like he hadn't just been thinking about Tim's big old tracts of land like a second earlier. ]
I was thinkin' maybe blue or silver. Something a little different from the usual.
[ "Oh! Well, that's certainly doable. I can have my assistant pull a few samples for you, but..." and now she turned to Tim. "We'll need to take your measurements, of course. Do you have the time now?" ]

Date: 2020-01-16 04:42 am (UTC)[Tim made a half-apologetic little laugh at the need to take his measurements. There was no way that anyone would have anything that would fit him right off the rack, so he'd have to be that asshole who had to get everything measured so that shirts and jackets could be custom-made for him. He didn't mean to be That Guy, but he also couldn't help it.]
Yeah, I've got the time now, I guess. [Not exactly his favorite way to spend a good twenty minutes, but a necessary evil. Then, to his werewolf beau,] Do you wanna look at some fabric and stuff while I get prodded? Then we can take a look at what you like?
[He was sure that Majima would look great in whatever he picked and whatever color he picked; he'd look great in blue, or silver, or a paper bag with the word 'tuxedo' written on it in marker. It was just a matter of deciding what he thought was best.]
[And if there were no objections to that plan of attack, he could go back with the Serious Sewing Lady and settle himself in for a good twenty minutes of holding his arms at weird angles.]

Date: 2020-01-16 06:19 pm (UTC)Go on ahead. You know where to find me.
[ A black tux would have been just fine, and all that. It was just that he wanted something a little different from his everyday wear. And Majima was fine being poked and prodded with the materials they had while Tim was getting his beef sized.
So while the tailor broke out the measuring tape and remarked on Tim's shoulders in back, Majima would be looking at pocket kerchiefs and listening to spiels about boutonnieres. And talking in slightly nervous fashion to the assistant, who was asking him questions. ]
Yeah, I, uh. Never thought I'd be in one of these shops? For myself, I mean.
[ He sounded happy. ]

Date: 2020-01-17 02:59 am (UTC)[He was a little distance away from where Majima was looking at suit accouterments with the assistant, but not so far that his sensitive minotaur hearing couldn't keep track of the conversation. It wasn't eavesdropping if he couldn't help it, right?]
[The assistant was telling him all about what kind of flowers he could get in the boutonnieres-- carnations were traditional, but some people liked gardenias because of their lovely scent. Or cornflowers, because of some old folk tale about young men in love wearing cornflowers, and if it wilted too soon, their love wasn't returned.]
["Didn't think you were the marrying type?" Since he'd commented on never being in a shop like this, looking at wedding tuxes. "Or just not very traditional?"]

Date: 2020-01-18 03:55 am (UTC)[ Why was Majima going on about this, anyhow? Maybe he was too happy, maybe he just wanted to talk about it as he slipped on a tuxedo jacket in a pale neutral shade. ]
My folks were married, and hell if it made them any happier. But it's not like it had to be like that, right? I mean, if I found anyone I was that sweet on, I'd want to take care of 'em forever. Be one of those old folks still takin' walks together in the park.
And after I met Tim, I... sorry, ya must hear this kinda thing all the time.
[ At least he had the decency to sound sheepish as the assistant set him up to the mirror and examined the lapels. It did nothing for his stupidly smitten tone of voice though, or the way he couldn't quite stop smiling. That was his endgame, spending the rest of his life with a freckly slab of beef. Looking at flowers in the springtime, maybe getting a couple of cats that shed everywhere. ]
I just want to give him everything I can. A fancy weddin', a big white frilly cake, flowers, the works. Make sure he knows how special he is.
[ "Well, I think you've come to the right place," the assistant said, smiling. "And that cut looks quite handsome on you! It's perfect with your fur." ]
